I'm a firm believer in buying kid's clothes secondhand. I mean, they only wear them for a short amount of time - who wants to pay $30 for an outfit that's only going to fit for a few months? But sometimes, with the right sales and coupons, you can save even MORE than you would buying things secondhand. Here's an example from a trip I made to JC Penney this week. I had two mailer coupons for $10 off a $10 purchase - love those! Since it was limited to one per transaction, I had to split my purchase into two transactions. Here are the details:
Transaction 1
Items Purchased:
4T Carter's 3-piece PJ's (pants, long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt) -
Coupons Used:
$10 off $10 Purchase Mailer
Total with tax: $.43
Transaction 2
Items Purchased:
6-9 Month Okie Dokie PJ's - set of 2 -
$10 off $10 Purchase Mailer
Total with tax: $11.88
Total - both transactions - $12.31
Pretty good savings, right? But that's not all! I actually used the remainder of a gift card that was a baby shower gift for most of the purchase ($8.65), bringing my actual out-of-pocket cost down to $3.66!
That comes out to $.92 per item, a savings of 94%! Even without the gift card, it's still an 80% savings - can't beat that.
What great deals did you find this week?
