Extreme Couponing Season Finale on TLC Tonight

Have you been watching Extreme Couponing on TLC?  Tonight is the last episode of the season, but TLC plans to bring it back for a second season.

If you're new to using coupons, Extreme Couponing may seem a bit...well, extreme.  I think the program was designed mostly for shock and awe factor.  In the pilot episode that aired last December, one couponer was shown loading up several shopping carts with items such as 150 candy bars, 250 boxes of pasta, and 40 bottles sports drinks. Another featured couponer is shown to keep $50,000-$75,000 worth of products in his garage including 1500 sticks of deodorant – enough to last him 150 years. These are not realistic portrayals of couponers in general.

I have a small, manageable stockpile of items that my family uses regularly.  I can't imagine clearing the shelves to obtain more stuff than I can use before it expires - even if it is practically free!  I do admit to having more tubes of toothpaste than I really need (most of which I have gotten for free), but I will be donating some of the excess so that it does not go to waste!

You don't have to dedicate a room in your home, or your entire garage, to reap the benefits of "extreme couponing!"

  1. I am new at the coupon thing and I printed off a couple but they don't have any bar codes on them to be scanned at the register. Do you have any advice?
