If you are a Kansas City resident, prepare to be excited. I am about to share with you the cutest little shop - with the coolest custom products! Come along with me on a virtual tour of my ubby - a unique local retailer offering custom blankets and throws for all ages!
When you step into the my ubby workshop, you can tell right away that it is a special place. The shop is bright and whimsical - the perfect place to inspire creativity.
In addition to the custom products (which I'll get to in a minute), a fantastic collection of merchandise awaits you at my ubby. These pillowcase dresses made me smile - I wanted to snag one for every little girl I know!
I kind of felt like I was in a live version of Etsy. There are so many cute items available. Love it!
I spotted unique onesies, headbands, plush toys, books, hairbows... A little bit of everything.
I think one of my favorite things was the little table set up - all ready for kids to be creative! In a shop like this, that won't be hard to do. Don't you just love the decorations? I want this chalk board in my house!
Perfect to keep little ones occupied, this setup is right next to the custom blanket options - so parents can keep their kiddos in sight while selecting their custom design. Perfect. I love it when retail shops recognize that kids need something to hold their attention and provide a cheerful and welcoming space for them. It definitely makes the shopping experience easier on the parents.
And look at the coloring sheet that was available when I stopped by! Love it!
After I took a peek around the shop, I headed to the back room to get an insider's look at where the customizing process happens! my ubby produces made-to-order custom blankets. Each blanket is made of the finest and softest material available.
Your custom blanket or throw will be marked with my ubby's logo - cute!
This is where the magic happens, everyone. Check out all of this fabric just waiting to be sewn into a blanket for you.
L seemed pretty relaxed during our visit. He could have no way of knowing what a cool blanket I was about to create for him! Here's a look into the process I went through to create L's custom blanket.
First: I checked out all of the different fabrics available and selected two - one for each side of the blanket. The selection is great and features lots of different textures, which is perfect for adventurous little babies like mine!
Once I had an idea of the fabrics I liked, I headed over to look at thread colors.
Here you can see the two fabrics I picked for L's blanket. That blue fabric is so fun, it has a swirly pattern and it is SO soft. I just want to curl up in it myself!
The selection of available fonts for embroidery is great, as well. I ultimately went with "Hobo" for L's blanket, but it was a tough decision!
While I decided to make a blanket for L, my ubby is not just limited to products for baby. They offer several sizes, including a "big ubby" which is sized for adults! Keep my ubby in mind for the upcoming holidays - why not create a blanket with the colors of a favorite sports team?
