Visit Texas Right Here at Home - Texas on Tour at the Kansas State Fair

Yeehaw!

I have friends and family who hail from Texas and from what I've heard - it's a pretty great place to be.  I've only visited once myself (a quick stop in San Antonio that involved dehydration and passing out on the sidewalk in front of the Alamo - but that's a story for another day).  I would like to go back someday.  My grandparents tell me stories about the time they spent in Texas all the time!

If you are a local reader, I'm excited to tell you about a way to visit Texas right here at home - at the Kansas State Fair!  This year's State Fair is taking place now through September 18 in Hutchinson, KS (2000 N Poplar St. - Hutchinson KS - 67502-5562).  If you want to experience Texas without heading south, take a trip to the State Fair and make your first stop at Texas on Tour!  This is the fourth consecutive year that Texas on Tour has brought the Lone Star State experience around the nation.

This traveling show is an exciting, interactive opportunity for guests to learn all about Texas through unique entertainment and activities.  Picture Yourself in Texas when you have your photo taken in front of backdrops of famous Texas sights such as the Gulf of Mexico, Rio Grande, or The Alamo - you can even share your adventurous photos via Facebook!  Ride the Texas Waterways on a virtual kayaking adventure that will take you from the coastline to the bayou.

While you're there, make sure you stop by the Discover Texas Theater to enter for a chance to win fun prizes.  If you are longing to have even more Texas adventures, you can also enter to win a sweepstakes - the grand prize is a trip to Texas!

You're sure to feel the spirit of Texas when you visit the 5,400-square-foot experience - Texas musicians and entertainers will be featured daily!  You're in for a fun time, to be sure.  I think that virtual kayaking adventure sounds great!

The next stop for Texas on Tour is at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in Alb, NM from October 1-9 - so if you happen to have friends in that area, make sure you spread the word!

Make sure to "like" Texas Tourism on Facebook and follow them on Twitter for all of the latest updates and more info about this fun experience!
