This weekend, we went on our first-ever family trip to the pumpkin patch! L was entirely fascinated with all of the things to look at. I loved the smell of kettle corn and FALL.
We visited Shuck's Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch, which is located in Pleasant Hill, MO.
Shuck's is not just a Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch. This Family Farm offers a wealth of activities for young and old. L was most impressed by the giant Corn Crib. Surprisingly, he really didn't try to eat the corn. Maybe he was in shock by how much there was. I have to admit, I climbed in the Corn Crib too and it was awesome.
Not quite old enough to participate in the Hay Jump, but he was pretty content to chill at ground level. He definitely did try to get the hay in his mouth. When I lived in the country as a kid, one of the most awesome things ever was climbing on top of a hay bale. Here kids can climb a mountain of them. How fantastic.
Then we headed to our main attraction - the pumpkins! He looks pretty cute perched in a pile of pumpkins that are just his size. He was enthralled with touching them and trying to eat the stems. We were making complete fools of ourselves - making silly faces and sounds, but he would not look up at us. It was ALL about the pumpkins.
Finally, a glance up at mommy!
L had an excellent time considering that he cannot yet walk or participate in the "big kid" fun. He brought home a cute little pumpkin - perfectly sized for his first Halloween!
I know we will be going back to Shuck's next year, when L will be able to enjoy the Barrel Train, Zipline, Hayrides, and of course...the Corn Maze!
We didn't check out the maze this time around, but we know from experience that it is awesome! I recommend visiting at night. The maze with a flashlight=fantastic.
Blast from the Past! It's me and hubby back in 2009, at Shucks Corn Maze LATE at night (aka before we became parents and could stay out past 9pm)! |
Head here for info about Shuck's location and operating hours!
Thanks to Shuck's for providing my family with passes and a pumpkin! I received no other compensation and all views expressed are my own.
