{Book Review} The Hip Girl's Guide to Homemaking by Kate Payne

Do you ever feel like you just don't have enough time (or money!) to keep your house in order? The Hip Girl's Guide to Homemaking might be just the thing you need. Hip Girl's by Kate Payne, covers a wide variety of home projects from a room-by-room guide to cleaning your house to using to all things outdoors to life after restaurants. This book would be great for anyone who wasn't able to learn housekeeping skills while growing up or just finds anything housework-related to be a daunting task. And it isn't just for the ladies. In the introduction, Payne says that she won't "make this book about gender, because the advice in this book is as much for guys as it is for girls." If you are looking to get your house in order without spending a fortune, you should check out Kate Payne's Hip Girl's Guide to Homemaking.

I try to be a domestic goddess... but I don't always measure up quite as well as I'd like. At first, I did find many of the tasks in Hip Girls to be daunting, but if you just take it step by step and follow the instructions, everything will go swimmingly. One of the simple tricks that I took from this book was under the 'Bed, Bath, and Between' section. It is called 'quick chic: five bathroom decor dos and don'ts.' Specifically, using small jars or cups (mugs) to hold things like Q-tips, hair clips and the like as well as moving occasionally used beauty supplies to a nearby closet to help save space in the bathroom. Another fun part of the book are the little tips inserted throughout the book called "Word to the Wise" and "Hip Trick." The Hip Girl's Guide to Homemaking will help you get your house in shape!
