Book Review: The Final Summit by Andy Andrews

Andy Andrews' latest novel The Final Summit follows David Ponder, a wealthy Texas businessman, who is part of an elite group of people throughout history known as Travelers. When he is summoned for an unprecedented meeting of all of the Travelers - past and present - David and his fellow Travelers, many of whom you will remember from your history books, have only a few chances to determine how to save humanity.

I was not entirely sure what to expect when I picked up this book. It is not a typical fiction book. I would almost venture to say that this is a philosophical fiction book. Very little action takes places during the story, but rather discussions and ideas make up the majority. The Travelers discuss humanity, its successes and failures, and how it can avoid total failure. I found the ideas discussed interesting, yet I couldn't fully immerse myself in some of the historical characters. I won't divulge the ulitmate answer to how humanity can save itself, but I will say that I found it to be thought-provoking. Included in the back of the book are discussion questions for each chapter which would be very helpful if you're reading this in a book club or classroom setting.

You can purchase this book from Amazon in Hardcover or Audio CD.
