My hubby and I were able to go to a screening of Cars 2 last weekend and I promised to let you all know what we thought of the movie. Cars 2 follows Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) as he enters the first ever World Grand Prix, and he brings along his best friend from Radiator Springs, Mater (Larry, the Cable Guy). As McQueen races against the flamboyant Italian car Francesco Bernoulli (John Turturro), Mater ends up in an international espionage mix-up. He meets British secret agents Finn McMissile (Michael Caine) and Holly Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer). Can Mater and his secret agent pals stop the attacks on the World Grand Prix in time? Will McQueen win the race or lose out to his Italian counterpart? You'll just have to go see it to find out.
But on to the review. My hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Since our son is only four months old, we haven't really been thoroughly versed (yet) in all things Cars, but we were familiar with the story and characters. The movie is action-packed from beginning to end. I'm normally not a big fan of 3D movies (I seem to develop a headache every time I watch one) - but this time the 3D was fun and not overwhelming.
The only thing I might warn parents about is the violence. Since the characters are cars, you might not realize just how violent some parts are, but multiple characters are beaten and/or killed. As adults, we really enjoyed the espionage storyline but I think some of the scenes will be very intense for younger viewers.
If you need some Disney/Pixar fun at home, you can pick up Cars (original movie) or the Toy Story Series on Amazon!

Thanks to Walt Disney Pictures for providing my tickets to the screening of Cars 2. I received no other compensation and all views expressed are entirely my own.
