Review: Jackson Jones: The Tale of a Boy, a Troll and a Rather Large Chicken

Jackson Jones has a bad habit of getting into troublesome situations. In his first adventure, he got lost in his Great Aunt Harriet's hair. But in his second adventure, Jackson Jones: The Tale of a Boy, a Troll and a Rather Large Chicken, Jackson gets lost in a very large tree. A tree so large, in fact, that Jackson can't seem to find the top or the bottom or, more importantly, how to get out. As the title of the book implies, Jackson runs into a variety of unique and unforgettable characters including Stimple the titular Troll as well as Miss Flaversham, the Rather Large Chicken. He ends up in a variety of odd circumstances in a garden (yes, a garden INSIDE a tree!) in which he cannot touch anything, in a fort built like a pirate ship, and in a hole with a mole.

The Jackson Jones series is written with a unique flair by author, Jenn L. Kelly. Kids will easily relate with Jackson during his adventures throughout a Wonderland-esque world. These books are published by Zondervan, a Christian publisher, but unlike many Christian-themed books, the Jackson Jones series is not overly preachy. Jackson learns important lessons during his adventures that most anyone can relate to, especially kids.
