2011 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Billy Joel's first solo album, Cold Spring Harbor
I was excited to listen to The Hits! I will admit that I am not entirely familiar with Billy Joel's music - Piano Man is the one song title I could give you if you asked me for the name of a Billy Joel song. However, I realized while listening to the album that I guess I know Billy Joel a little better than I thought! I put the CD in expecting to hear completely new music and ended up singing along with half of the tracks. I guess that's what I get for only listening to music on the radio, where they may or may not tell the artist's name! :)
I love listening to all of the fantastic piano stylings Billy Joel includes in each song! I've been playing the piano for 14 years, but I'm still nowhere near having that kind of talent!
The Hits includes classic Billy Joel songs recorded from 1971 - 1992. My favorite tracks are Piano Man, It's Still Rock & Roll To Me, and The River of Dreams (which I sang in a show choir several years ago!). The album overall is filled with catchy, upbeat melodies and is sure to be a new favorite on my playlist!

But I also found out I know more of his songs than I thought.
Well, I don't know where I left it, but my favorite Billy Joel song is An Innocent Man.
