The beloved Chicken Soup for the Soul book collection has a book for just about any subject! The most recent release, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Country Music, is a collection of inspirational stories that helped to create over one hundred of the greatest country songs.
One story that specifically stuck out as I read through this fantastic collection was behind the Grammy and CMA winning I Hope You Dance by writer Tia Sillers, made famous by Lee Ann Womack. So many of the individual lines of the song came from her personal experiences. For example, the line “I hope you still feel small / When you stand beside the ocean” was from when she vacationed on St. George Island and she was overwhelmed by the “deepness of the sea and the vastness of the sand.” The line “I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance” came from her own journey of scaling an 11,000-foot mountain in the Colorado Rockies.
This book is filled with inspiration stories and lyrics, including Hey Cinderella, Jesus Take the Wheel - and the amusing Mississippi Squirrel Revival.
