Best of Caillou: Caillou's Summer Vacation DVD Review + Giveaway

PBS Kids’ cartoon series, Caillou, follows the title character around his everyday life as a small child.  In the episode “Captain Caillou” - which is featured in Caillou's Summer Vacation - we watch as Caillou goes to the park with his grandfather. Caillou’s grandfather made him a sailboat and he entered it in a sailboat race! Even though he didn’t win, he was able to make friends with the other racers and learn that you don’t always have to win to have fun. After the park, Caillou explores for things that make loud noises. He hears his dad mowing the lawn and thinks that’s pretty loud. Then his father surprises him and takes him to the airport to see the planes take off. Caillou is very impressed with the loud engines of the planes. Then finally, Caillou gets to be the ring bearer in a wedding. Though he nearly loses the rings, he finds them and saves the wedding.  This is just one of the adventures you'll take with Caillou on this DVD!

Caillou reminds me a little bit of the Family Circus comics featured in the weekly newspaper. The animation is simple, yet engaging. And the show teaches valuable lessons without seeming too preachy, so the kids may not even realize they are learning lessons!
