When Mrs. Pteranodon’s eggs hatch, she isn’t surprised to find three little pteranodons, but to the whole family’s astonished to discover that the fourth egg isn’t a pteranodon at all.
In the episode “I’m a T. Rex!” Mrs. Pteranodon and her two children, Tiny (who is a pteranodon just like her mother) and Buddy (who is...well, no one really knows what he is!), set out on the Dinosaur Train to learn about other species of dinosaurs so that they can find out what Buddy is. They stop for lunch in Rexville where they meet Delores Tyrannosaurus and her daughter, Annie. Everyone is amazed that Buddy looks so much like Annie and they presume that Buddy must be a T. Rex! He learns how big he’ll grow and what kind of food he likes to eat. But at the end of the day, even when Annie asks him if he wants to stay in Rexville with his own kind, he decides to return home. He's decided that even though he doesn’t look like the pteranodons, they are his family.
