Chicken Soup for the Soul: Just for Pre-teens Review + Giveaway (3 Winners)

The ever-popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series has released a new book, Just for Preteens. This new collection of '101 Stories of Inspiration and Support for Tweens" encompasses a wide range of topics that the almost-teens go through. The tween years have always been a difficult place, but it is especially true for today's tweens. Topics of stories range from fitting in to bullying to doing what's right.

I noted in my recent review of the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Just for Teens book that I do believe that many of the topics covered in this tome would be good for parents to discuss with their children. In fact, I might recommend getting this book and letting your teen pick a story to read and discuss. That way, it helps to open the lines of communication between parent and child.

One story that I found particularly moving from this book was entitled "Aunt Cathy." It is about a girl who got in a fight with her parents for not letting her attend a coed party. She spent the entire weekend angy and when her father dropped her off at school on Monday morning she slammed the car door and left without saying goodbye. Her father had a heart attack that morning and died. Her Aunt Cathy admitted to also having been in an unresolved fight with him, and together they were able to begin to heal from their pain and guilt.
